BarBet

AlphaFold gives every residue of a predicted protein a confidence score, and those scores fall into four bands. Picture the whole chain as one bar, cut into those four bands. Bet the bar before you see it. Slide the three dividers, lock your bet, then see the model's real bar. There are 8 proteins.

Press start to deal the first protein.

Why a bar?

A bar model shows parts of one whole. Here the whole is every residue in the chain, and the parts are the four confidence bands. Many compact, folded proteins are mostly very high, but chains with long floppy stretches can be mostly very low. A low band often marks a part that is flexible in the real protein too, not a mistake.

AlphaFold models the whole chain as the gene encodes it, including pieces that the cell cuts off later, so a bar can hold more than the finished protein.

Your score counts residues your bar put in a different band from the model's bar. It is printed beside what an even split (a quarter in each band) would score, so you can see whether your bet beat a plain guess.
